Using ethnography and interviews, I study the social and cultural factors that shape collaboration across and within specialties, and between providers and patient-families, to identify evidence-based strategies to improve teamwork, communication, and care delivery.
In collaboration with many clinical research partners, I examine patient and family care experiences during and after hospitalization, to continuously improve how care is delivered and received, and to ensure better outcomes for patients in the future.
Taking a socio-cultural approach, my research uncovers the challenges and opportunities to enhance health professions post-graduate learning, from primary care clinics to intensive care units, with implications for recruitment, retention, and professional socialization.
